For example, Linux version of The Talos Principle game can run even on laptop with Intel Atom Z3735G (low-end tablet SoC from year 2014 that for some reason end up in many cheap laptops) with Vulkan API, which is` simply impossible with Direct3D and OpenGL. Otherwise game will not work under Steam Proton (due to missing translator functionality) or require more powerful hardware and run much slower, than on Windows (due to Proton and graphics API translator overhead).įortunately, UE4 already support Vulkan API, so at first you'll need to enable and get it running at least on Windows - this step will allow you to increase performance for your existing user base and cover broader range of hardware. If anyone does try the feature with City of Brass, please let us know if it works or not :) Dear developer, to make Valve's solution useful for your game, you have to enable Vulkan API support. This is a Steam beta feature currently, so I have no idea if it works well or at all.
